Liebmann was born and raised in Florida, near Johannesburg. He matriculated from the Johannesburg School for Art, Ballet and Music, 1971. He has exhibited in group and solo exhibitions since 1970, in Johannesburg and most recently in Madrid (2019). The monograph about his work, Drawings was published in 2019, Spain. In 2006, he established NIROX Foundation to foster the arts and quality of life in nature. In 2011 he received the BASA Art Champion Award for pioneering the arts. Liebmann lives in the Cradle of Humankind, adjoining NIROX, with his wife Manthe Ribane. Has 4 adult children, all committed to the future of South Africa, actively engaged in making it a better place, in their different ways.
