Nkurunziza a Rwandan painter and sculptor. He founded the Inema Arts Center, an educational and art space for children and young people that hosts exhibitions and performances. He also initiated Rwanda’s first art collective, Nziza Art Initiative. The artist is known for monumental works that combine various techniques. He uses natural materials such as tree bark, mud, and dirt, and makes his own pigments. He describes his creative process as “slow art” — focused, and meditative ritual. In his view, art is a form of spiritual connection with nature, a prayer, and a way to rediscover the primal bond between humans and the earth. Nkurunziza's work has gained international recognition, and the artist frequently participates in exhibitions and art fairs across Africa, Europe, and the Americas.
